It is such an important thing and crucial to make sure that the equipment we have purchased work fine and as per design. So does your root blower need to have a performance test to get the actual performance and will work fine to meet the project requirement.
Performance test are conducted at our own Workshop with calibrated measurement tools. Below are parameters recorded during the test :
– Capacity
– Pressure
– Inlet&Outlet Temperature
– Vibration and Noise
– Current
– Speed (rpm)
Measurement Tools :
– Thermal mass gas flowmeter
– Pressure Gauge
– Temperature Gauge
– Noise Meter
– Megger Test
– Vibration Meter
– Tachometer
ROOT BLOWER PERFORMANCE TEST
A Root Blower performance test verifies that the blower achieves the requires air capacity and discharge pressure without excessive power consumption, temperature, noise and vibration.
Test Procedure
1. Inspect the blower ,lubrication level, coupling or belt alignment, fasteners and safety guard
2. Confirms that all instruments are calibrated
3. Open the discharge control valve before starting
4. Start the blower at no-load or minimum-pressure condition
5. Record baseline speed, vibration, noise, temperature, current and air flow
6. Gradually close the control valve to increase the discharge pressure
7. Test several operating points, such as :
- 25% rated pressure
- 50 % rated pressure
- 75 % rated pressure
-100 % rated pressure
8. Allow the readings to stabilize at every test point
9. Record all measured values
10. Run the blower continously at the rated duty point, typically for 30-60 minutes, to check temperature and vibration stability
11. Gradually unload the blower before stopping
~ Measured capacity meets the guaranteed capacity by manufacturer within the agreed tolerence.
~ Discharge pressure reaches the rated duty point
~ Motor current does not the exceed the motor nameplate rating
~ Blower speed remains within permitted range
~ Bearing and discharge temperature stabilize below manufacturer limits
~ Vibration remains within the blower manufacturer's acceptance limits
~ Noise complies with the project specifications
~ No abnormal rubbing, knocking , oil leakage, air leakage or belt slippage occurs
The report should include :
~ Blower Model and Serial Number
~ Electric Motor Data
~ Test Date and Location
~ Instrument List and Calibration status
~ Ambient conditions
~ Operating-points reading
~ Capacity-vs -pressure curve
~ Power -vs-Capacity curve
~ Temperature, Noise and Vibration results
~ Acceptance status
~ Client and Witness signature
